About the Image(s)

Canon R5 with RF 100-500mm at 100mm

Pole Hill is just East of Estes Park, Colorado. This is a stitched panorama made from 6 individual images that were stitched together and processed in Photoshop. I was trying to catch the moody atmosphere at the time.

The original image shown here is what the 6 images looked like immediately
after stitching them together.

Really like the way this is processed-the tones and details work very well. However, I feel the crop is a little too tight. Personally, I would prefer a wider composition to show more of the surrounding landscape and give the image a greater sense of scale.   Posted: 10/03/2026 02:36:23

I think you are right. I can take the original and just crop out the bottom so that the road and sign don't show which would make it much wider.   Posted: 10/13/2026 05:02:25

Great for you to be stitching panos. I was just out west and only created panos with my cell phone. Agh! Missed opportunity!

I can see Sunil's point of wanting more space, but it doesn't look like you have it. An option to create the sense of a wider vista by cropping up a bit from the bottom and in from the top to create more a sweeping panorama.

For me, I'd like a bit more contrast. I understand that we lose depth as we go further away, so maybe choosing the trees ("vegetation" choice in Lightroom's Landscape panel) and darkening them. Then a bit more contrast on the middle rock, just to create a sense of more depth. I'd probably use "DeHaze". You had some more blue in the original for the far mountains, that looks beautiful and natural.   Posted: 10/06/2026 14:07:15

I agreed with Brenda; adding a bit more contrast is a good suggestion. Personally, I would even add a little bit more saturation as well.   Posted: 10/06/2026 16:26:22

I'd crop a lot more off the bottom, which would change the subject from the gap between the two nearby "hills" to a study of the multiple ranges of mountains in view beyond the first "hill".   Posted: 10/06/2026 23:33:03

I really love the sense of depth in this photo! Stitching six photos together was definitely the way to go-it gives it such a grand scale. From the crisp details in the pine trees right up front, to the majestic rock faces in the middle, all the way to the blue-gray peaks wrapped in rain and mist in the distance... the layers just push outward bit by bit. The depth and sense of space are incredible! Thanks so much for sharing!   Posted: 10/12/2026 02:02:53

Great image but cropped too tight. I like the sign in the original stitching - kind of ironic to think that this beautiful scene you captured is private. Agree with Brenda about dehazing and would add a bit more drama to the clouds with some selective burning.   Posted: 10/19/2026 12:40:10
