About the Image(s)

When visiting the old depot in Boise ID I fell in love with the old steam engine they had on display. The engine parts were very fascinating to me. I think I came home with over 100 images of just parts. This was one of my favorites.

Interesting subject, very well cropped and processed. The textures and details really stand out. I liked the tones in both the original and the final processed version.   Posted: 10/03/2026 01:50:49

I think you did a really nice job. Very shiny and gleaming, with lots of great circles to lead us around. An option might be to add some more texture and see if you like the effect.   Posted: 10/06/2026 01:43:33

I added global texture and selective burning. It does add a bit more interest. Thank you for the suggestion.   Posted: 10/19/2026 12:53:33

Very nice processing of a B&W. I would sort of like to have seen enough of the subject to have been able to guess its function.   Posted: 10/06/2026 23:19:59

A very great photo! The black-and-white tonal contrast and highlight control are excellent. Did you use Nik Collection for this? Would you mind sharing a few tips on how you adjusted it?   Posted: 10/12/2026 01:48:58

I did all the processing in Camera Raw - texture, clarity and contrast. Then in Photoshop cropping and burning. This was minimally processed. Per Brenda's suggestion I revised it to add more texture - global in Camera Raw. Somehow I have problems when using Nik so I need more practice with it.   Posted: 10/19/2026 12:57:08
