Taken in the Samburu region, Kenya from our Landrover. Lots of wonderful wildlife in this area and I was so happy to capture the reticulated giraffe family with the calf looking our way. Giraffe offspring look like miniature adults, unlike most offspring, which we found so cute!

Cindy,
This is a well composed African savana scene. I like the strong center of interest with the several layers of landscape and hazy background and sky. The truncated tree on the right is a small visual irritation but not much to be done about that without too much cropping on the right.   Posted: 10/08/2026 16:16:42

I agree with Dean about the layers. I really like the markings on these giraffes.   Posted: 10/10/2026 04:19:21

Cindy this is a great picture showing us the environment of these majestic animals. And I also appreciate the layers stretching into the background.
I feel the calf is somewhat lost. Perhaps these suggestions may help:
Darken the sky and distant mountains
Crop from the right between those 2 trees
Crop a little from the bottom.   Posted: 10/12/2026 15:50:13

Nice environmental capture of reticulated giraffes. The darker tree line falls in the horizontal center of the frame. If you crop the picture in such a way as to remove more of the foreground and show more of the sky it might appear more balanced.   Posted: 10/13/2026 13:25:07

Nicely done. Good illustration of the living environment of these giraffes.
As I found the giraffes were blending too much with their milieu. Furthermore, as they were walking towards the left side, I would have cropped the right side more tightly.
I took the liberty of adding some "tweaks", by cropping a little the right side, increasing the contrast, using a polarizer and a slight vignette.   Posted: 10/16/2026 15:59:13

This is a great landscape and frames your giraffes perfectly. Really well done. I think that Pierre's tighter crop is a nice alternative photo as well. Really well done!   Posted: 10/16/2026 16:26:37
