About the Image(s)

Walking about with a group during an Out of Chicago Conference a few years ago. I noticed this person walking alone around the walkway leading to the hotel entrance near the Chicago River, hence, a quick response was necessary with no time to adjust the zoom’s length.
Fujifilm XT2, 18-55 at 37mm(56mm full frame), 1/40, f8, ISO 200. Processed in LR Classic assisted by Nik Silver Pro Efex software to convert to B/W.
Cropped to square frame which I think was appropriate for this street capture and to what caught my attention at that time.

Hi Steve,

A very interesting image with the lady close to the center and the windows reflecting her almost like ghostly apparitions following her. The leading line of the walkway leads my eye right to her, then past her to whatever maybe at the end of the walk around the corner. I also like, very much, how you handled the detail and lighting in your post processing.

To my eye, given the right decorating scheme for a room this would, as I see it, be a good picture to hang on the wall.

I see a really nice image, thank you for sharing it with us Steve.   Posted: 10/11/2026 17:49:10

Hi Steve, I think that the square crop makes the most of the interplay of the curves and lines. As Ed says, the reflections of the lady make the image really special. And, as always, the tonal range of the conversion is a pleasure to watch.   Posted: 10/11/2026 19:57:38

This image caught my eye im the thumbnails. I like your final framing and the reflection of the woman is perfect. Another terrific image.

Good image Steve - I love the mix of curves and straight lines. As everyone else noted, your crop is spot on. I also like the framing with the walkway - as Ed notes, it draws the eye beautifully. The reflection in the window is almost ghost like; maybe it's too close to Halloween, but I almost want to take the woman out of the image and leave just the reflection.   Posted: 10/17/2026 19:27:04
