About the Image(s)
The bear was photographed near Lake Clark National Park. I used three different textures to create the image. I have been trying to work with textures. I used the contrast and vibrance in camera raw.

Debbie, I like your experiment in use of textures, they bring the focus to your subject and enhance the overall image. My only suggestion might be to blur the sharper texture over the bear's head and shoulders(and a touch in the lower left) as I find it a little distracting compared with the other blurred background.   Posted: 10/13/2026 21:41:44

Contrary to Brads comment I think the sharpness of the head is important. When using textures and layers I nearly always try to ensure that a little is erased so there is a point of focus. Strange how we see things differently.   Posted: 10/14/2026 09:34:24

I love using textures, but there is a danger of losing details and her the eyes just don't stand out, and sadly that detracts from what is a good picture.   Posted: 10/27/2026 15:38:51
Thanks for the insight. I appreciate it.   Posted: 10/27/2026 16:29:33
A great use of textures to create a picture rather than a wildlife study with the subject in its natural environment. I am not quite sure about the second texture as the linen like areas, I feel, do not quite fit in with the outdoor environment that the bear is in but are more appropriate to indoor still life images. Maybe the first texture on its own would have been enough.   Posted: 10/27/2026 16:02:50
Thanks - I am continuing to try with textures. It is such a delicate balance   Posted: 10/27/2026 16:30:30
