Sitting on the outside of the Royal Navy Historic Docks, Portsmouth is HSM Warrior. She is one of the first two Iron Plated hull War Ships ever built. She was launched in 1859 and remained in active service till 1873 when a mastless version was launched. Since then has had many active roles in the Navy 1979 at that point she was donated to the Maritime Trust. The restoration took eight years and then was transferred to the historic fleet and has sat in her position since 1987. She is well worth a visit if you are ever this way. She is still a ship of the line.

This is very nice...love the sky! IMV, the "darks" on the vessel are too dark...take that for what it's worth. But there is another contrast, I like very much...the contrast between a 3 masted sailing ship and a speedboat with an outboard engine. Well done   Posted: 10/01/2026 17:51:33

Very good image, Paul. I love the contrast in the sky. The sun left you with a bright spot on the right. I am not certain what can be done with that. Really nice.   Posted: 10/05/2026 19:54:14

Paul - this is certainly a striking vessel! Thank you for the detail. What comes over to me is the scale of the masts and rigging - huge and this leads to the body of the ship appearing small - but it's not! We can't see much detail in it which is a pity. I think the backlighting doesn't help.   Posted: 10/14/2026 21:29:22

Nice images, as the colors version is also interesting for the color of the sky.
The B&W version works very well. I like the sky, and of course, the subject. However I personally find it a little too dark. It is quite difficult to distinguish the texture.   Posted: 10/15/2026 13:54:59

Paul, nice image of this historic vessel. The sky is very dramatic and light enough to show the details of the rigging. I also appreciate the contrast between the vessel and the modern speedboat (and size!). I agree that you can bring up the shadows of the vessel just a bit. Your edits in silver efex work well with the subject here.   Posted: 10/16/2026 17:45:01
