About the Image(s)
This image was taken outside of a cathedral near Montreal. I shot the image with my mirrorless Sony A6700. I used LR to initially edit the image and bring out the shadows. and reduced the saturation. In PS, I cropped the image and used Silver Effects to convert to B&W. Just above the bronze statue of a begging woman is a plaque. In French, was written that whatever you do to the less fortunate, you do unto me. This is taken from the writing of Mathew 25:40 in the old testament. I like the composition of the statue which was placed to the side of the front door and the beautiful architecture of the building. Susan

Hi Susan: To my eye your image appears to be a bit over exposed. While the statue looks interesting, I kept asking what is the subject of your composition? The architecture? Or the statue? The plaque above the statue probably has verbiage with an explanation but that would have required your position to be more to the left and zoomed in to include one or both. Your camera settings were not included and can only guess but your image might benefit from a level's adjustment as well.   Posted: 10/12/2026 17:35:54
Susan, what a contrast between the beautiful building and the desparate woman.

Hi Susan
I love the contrast between the dark of the bronze statue and the lighter coloured masonary of the Cathedral, though like Ella I do feel the highlights could be brought down a little as it does appear bright on my monitor it may also add some more texture and definition to the wonderful stone work.
The lines on the floor also act as a great lead in line.   Posted: 10/16/2026 10:44:24

Hi, Susan! At first, I thought it was a real person sitting there. Then, after enlarging the photo and reading the description, I realized it was a statue. It looks realistic. I like that there's an emphasis on it. Perhaps the walls could be made less bright so they don't distract attention. I think it's because of the bright weather.   Posted: 10/20/2026 18:57:10
A fine image Susan. Like the others, I think that bright wall could be toned down a little, particularly as it takes up the vast majority of the image area. I don't mind your construction of the image though. Your use of the walls shows the honest size of the area which we would expect to see with this type and style of construction.   Posted: 10/22/2026 21:29:27
