About the Image(s)

September brought me to New York for the 25th anniversary of 9-11. My image is of five famous building in New York taken at night. A FF camera was used on a tripod with a 2sec exposure, F8, ISO 125. In post camera processing, I sharpened the image, used an adjustment layer to convert it to BW, added a stroke and called it done.

Ella, an interesting idea to capture these five buildings in one image.
I have only been to New Yok once but I can see some familiar buildings here.
The result justifies the notion.
I do find the highlight at bottom right to be a slight distraction.   Posted: 10/15/2026 05:58:40

Hi Ella
Firstly I love the graduation of scale the various sized smaller buildings in the foreground being dwarfed by the skyscrapers in the background, wonderful tonal range throughout especially within the buildings,am I right in seeing what looks like a sailing yacht about about a quarter way up on the R.H.S. with a 2 second exposure it is slightly ghosted, right next to the bright area John mentioned,do not ask me why but for me it adds something to the picture it fascinates me.
Fabulous night image that so works in black and white.   Posted: 10/17/2026 19:15:13

Ian, thank you for your feedback. Yes the sailboat is ghosted because of the 2 sec. exposure. Given the feedback, I might take another look at some of the bottom highlights in my image. Often our eyes seem to focus on the bright spots and removing those might make sense.   Posted: 10/17/2026 23:21:04

First off Ella, congratulations on your image in the Members Showcase, well done.
Your image this month is very strong. Lots of interest and things to see. A good viewpoint with the scene well composed, processed and presented.   Posted: 10/22/2026 21:12:33
