October 2026 - Two Merganser Ducks

Two Merganser ducks. Fairly common but I liked the mirroring effect of them overlapping. I thought the colors, reflections and background worked well for a pleasing shot.
F5.6, 1000mm, 1/4000, ISO 1250.

Hi Doug - I agree with Isaac's comments - this IS a pleasing shot. A very peaceful scene. This is such an interesting contrast between the warm brown/orange and the cool white/gray tones! For your consideration, I would suggest trying a portrait shot with a much tighter crop at mid-body and including the reflection below the two heads for another option. Posted: 10/06/2026 03:46:27

I love the colors and symmetry in this image. The colors reflected in the water complement the hues of the mergansers' heads, helping the birds stand out beautifully against their surroundings.
