Camera: Google Pixel 7 Pro (Yep, I took a cell phone shot!)
Settings: Who knows?!?
Lightroom Post Processing - Increased: Saturation, Vibrance, Whites/Blacks, Clarity & Dehaze. Decreased: Highlights & Exposure. Added: Slight vignette I also extended the canvas size and added a stroke in Ps.
The story:
We were camping in Alabama and took an overnight trip to visit our daughter who was living in New Orleans. She recommended that we HAD to experience the Natchez Steamboat on the Mississippi River. Being a huge Samuel Clemens/Mark Twain fan, I couldn't resist! We had a lovely dinner
then were able to wander the ship - including the fascinating engine room. As sunset approached, I found a great spot near the stern paddle wheel to capture this (and several other!) images.

Hi Karen,
What a nice image. A very well composed image with great leading lines. I think having the horizon in the middle of the frame gives a nice balance between the sy and the river boat. A very nice capture.
Best regards,

Nice image Karen and seems like a great opportunity to capture scenes that are not readily available. I do like the leading line of the rail and the paddlewheel gives strength to the image, and I think resolves what would otherwise have been a weak ambiguous scene. Also brings back memories of my much younger days travelling in that part of the world,   Posted: 10/13/2026 02:12:29

Hi Karen - You've captured an appealing image - the composition with those strong leading lines and the nice play of color in the steamboat draw the viewer to that evening sky. I suggest eliminating the tower that's center left as it really isn't adding anything to the story. Those clouds running just above the horizon are a nice contrast to that interesting sunlit evening sky and brings some balance across the image. Good eye -   Posted: 10/13/2026 02:30:07

Hi Karen. What a great evening to be out on the river. I love that the spokes of the paddlewheel are mirrored in the cloud formation. You have captured a small section of the Steamboat but it tells the most important part of the story. Your post processing is very effective as well. I have no suggestions for improvement. Your image would be a great addition to any brochure promoting this evening experience. :)   Posted: 10/14/2026 16:54:57

Hi Karen,
Greetings my friend.
Your image this edition has an interesting story to tell.
I like the way you have make the composition keeping the boad in one side and the landscape on the otherside. The sky, the clouds and the lights seems to be complementing each other. Thanks for sharing. Nothing to add.
Cheers.
