About the Image(s)

We wrapped up our Iceland to Norway trip earlier this month with a visit to Oslo. One of the most striking buildings in Norway's capital city is their Opera House. This is a small detail highlighting the staircases that allow visitors to climb up the structure. I was fortunate to find a moment when it wasn't overwhelmed with tourists.
Sony A7R VI, Tamron 28-200 f/2.8-5.6. ISO 100, 32mm, f/9, 1/320 second. Shot handheld. Processing was all done in Lightroom Classic.

Hi Henry: From a perspective standpoint I think you stood in just the right place to make this photo. Compositionally every thing balances very well, then the clouds in the sky add that finishing touch.

I think the small building in the distance between the two large buildings adds a bit of depth to the overall scene.

This scene converted very well to monochrome.   Posted: 10/08/2026 05:10:43

Henry:This is a very interesting image. The diagonals of the staircase leading into the horizontals and verticals of the buildings make an interesting geometrical study. The seams in the blocks on the left of the staircase disappear as they recede into the background. You might be able to bring them back.   Posted: 10/14/2026 16:46:18

Good suggestion, Charles. I'll see what I can do with those.   Posted: 10/14/2026 17:19:23
