Giraffe and Oxpeckers by Sue Peri

October 2026 - Giraffe and Oxpeckers

About the Image(s)

Several years ago I went to Tanzania and learned, among many things, about this mostly mutualistic relationship between the oxpeckers and giraffes (as well as other animals.) I liked this image because I thought it was different from just a giraffe by itself. I also liked the texture and patterns and the contrasting colors.

Great idea to make the oxpeckers the center of the composition, and the patterns on the giraffe make such a fascinating design that they can form a study on their own! I also like the fact that the oxpeckers are looking towards each other, with their eyes sharp, and are framed against the blue sky.   Posted: 10/18/2026 13:36:21

I like the position of the birds as they seem secure in their environment. The details in the fur make this image stand out. Well done.   Posted: 10/22/2026 15:42:21

A case for symbiotic relationship in Nature. The photo is good , particularly with the details of the fur showing. The birds stand out against the repeating shapes, making them natural focal points. Clean composition.   Posted: 10/22/2026 18:54:34

I love how this reframes the giraffe as like terrain. A giraffe-scape, and very well executed!   Posted: 10/25/2026 02:14:32
